MileIQ is the more polished pure mileage tracker; MileTruth is built for gig drivers and costs less than half as much. MileIQ's individual plan is $139.92 a year (or free with Microsoft 365 Business Standard/Premium). MileTruth is planned at $59.99 a year — deliberately MileIQ's 2024 price, before two consecutive increases took it to where it is now.
The functional difference is not classification, where MileIQ is genuinely excellent. It is that MileIQ answers "how many business miles did I drive" and stops there, while MileTruth also answers "did that driving actually pay me anything after what the car cost." For a realtor or consultant the first question is the whole job. For a delivery driver it is half of it.

Where MileIQ is genuinely better
Comparison pages that never concede anything are not useful, so here is the honest list.
- It exists. MileTruth is in development. MileIQ ships today, on both platforms, with years of production hardening behind it.
- The classification interaction is the best in the category. Everyone copied it for a reason.
- It is free with Microsoft 365 Business. If you have that subscription, no comparison on price is meaningful — MileIQ costs you nothing extra and is a better product than most paid alternatives.
- Android and web. MileTruth is iOS-first.
- Reimbursement workflows. MileIQ is built for people submitting mileage to an employer as much as for the self-employed. MileTruth is not.
Where MileTruth is aimed differently
Price. $59.99 against $139.92 is a $79.93 annual difference. That is not the main argument, but it is not nothing, and it is deliberately set at what MileIQ charged in 2024.
Capture rate as the primary metric. Every tracker in this category loses trips; the category treats it as a support topic rather than a product claim. MileTruth's engineering target is capture rate measured against an odometer, and the design follows from it — motion-activity and geofence wake-ups rather than continuous GPS polling, back-filled trip starts so a trip is not short by the distance it took to detect, unclassified-by-default trips so nothing is silently bucketed. Net pay, not just miles. MileTruth builds a personal cost per mile from your vehicle and costs, then reports gross minus vehicle cost divided by hours online. That is the number that tells you whether a platform, a time slot or an offer is worth taking. MileIQ does not attempt this and does not claim to. Why gross pay is misleading.
Unpaid miles. For delivery work, 30 to 50 percent of miles are unpaid repositioning. They are generally deductible and they are exactly the ones a tracker that starts late or requires a manual start will lose.
The 2026 rate change applies to both
2026 has two business mileage rates: 72.5 cents per mile January 1 through June 30, and 76 cents per mile July 1 through December 31. Any app's 2026 annual report must apply both on the correct side of that boundary. A single annual total multiplied by a single rate is wrong for 2026 no matter which rate it used — for a 20,000-mile driver the error runs several hundred dollars in either direction.

Switching, if you decide to
MileIQ exports your drives as CSV. MileTruth's planned import reads that export directly, so a mid-year switch does not orphan the first half of your year — which matters more in 2026 than usual, because the first half of the year is the 72.5-cent half and you need its dates intact.
Keep the MileIQ export regardless of which app you end up in. It is your contemporaneous record for the period it covers, and a record you exported is a record you still have when a subscription lapses.
